Occupational safety and health at IU Bloomington

Indiana University is responsible for providing a safe working environment for all employees. The Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) staff within IU Environmental Health and Safety provide technical expertise and support in the areas of Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) compliance and hazard identification, evaluation, and control.

Areas of expertise include ergonomics, maintenance and industrial safety, industrial hygiene, hazard communication, construction safety, indoor air quality, personal protective equipment, etc.

IU Safety Committees

Indiana University is committed to providing a safe and healthy work environment to all employees. Two permanent safety committees have been established for Union-represented employees. They are the Joint Safety Committee for AFSCME covered employees, and the IU/CWA Safety Committee for CWA covered employees. IUEHS provides technical support for both committees.
