Food safety requirements for retail establishments

All IU food service establishments must meet the Retail Food Establishment Sanitation Requirements established by the state.

IU Environmental Health and Safety staff conduct routine facility inspections and follow-ups, complaint investigations, and pre-operational and onsite inspections of temporary food service facilities and special events that provide food to the public.

They also can help with guidance and training.

Inspection

All establishments are inspected based on the Retail Food Establishment Sanitation Requirements in 410 IAC 7-24. Food handlers are required to be certified according to the requirements of 410 IAC 7-22,
